FEBRUARY 9, 2021 UPDATE

Hello Church Family!

We are happy to invite you back into God's House to worship tomorrow night @ 7:00 pm and this Sunday @ 9:00 am and 10:45 am. We have a capacity of 175 persons per service. Please RSVP for one of the two Sunday Services in the link below. There is no need to RSVP for Wednesday Night.

We are so excited to be meeting together inside again. Having said that, we still need to exercise some precautions.

The first thing is that we need every person who plans on attending to do a self evaluation to make sure you are symptom free and fever free. If you have any symptoms or a fever or have been exposed to anyone who tested positive for COVID you must not attend one of our indoor worship services. Instead, you can access the service online. We will continue to live stream our 7:00 pm Wednesday Night Service and our 10:45 am Sunday Morning service online.

The second thing is that we need everyone who attends to please wear your mask properly throughout the service and maintain your social distancing. We ask that you please keep three seats open between you and any person not living in your household. We have hand sanitizer throughout the sanctuary and shall not be passing offering plates nor communion down the aisle so as to mitigate contact. Offering can be deposited in one of the offering boxes exiting the Sanctuary, made online, texted or sent in the mail. Communion will always be available outside the sanctuary that you can pick up on your way in. Please do not socialize in the foyer of the Church, but feel free to utilize our beautiful patio under the Oak Tree.

Finally, please pray with us that we will be able to worship together safely in the protection of God's presence and that no one will bring, nor spread COVID to Oak Park Christian Center. We are grateful for the victory the Supreme Court has given us and we need to continue to let love be the principle that guides us to be as safe as we possibly can be. Let us continue to pray that God will end this pandemic, and praise God for the way that He has been with us through it all!

We look forward to seeing you in Church or online in Christ.

In Christ’s service,

Pastor Sean Fitzhugh

JANUARY 27, 2021 UPDATE

Hello Church Family!

As you may have heard, Governor Gavin Newsom, lifted the Shelter in Place Order in California as of Monday, January 25th. This means we are in the Purple Tier in Contra Costa County. While this allows for activities like outdoor dining, and certain other services restricted during the shelter in place, our worship services must remain outdoors or online while in the Purple Tier. We look forward to when our County will return to the Red Tier and ultimately becoming all clear of the Corona Virus. But until these things happen, we are still going to meet outside and online. This will apply for all of our Growth Groups. Once Contra Costa moves back into the Red Tier, our Growth Groups will be allowed to meet indoors, if the individual groups wish to do so. Until then, we insist they remain outdoors or online in accordance with the County’s regulations.

Let us pray the Lord gives us the victory in Jesus over this pandemic. In the meantime, we will continue to serve Him no matter what!

In Christ's service,

Pastor Sean Fitzhugh

PS - below is an important note from Leslie about Growth Groups.

Our Winter Growth Groups are underway, and are already filling up. If you would like to be a part of an eight-week study on the book of 1 Timothy, we encourage you to click the link below and find a group that is right for you! We will start our Growth Groups off via Zoom and as County restrictions lift, it will be up to the individual groups whether they will stay on Zoom or meet in person to finish off their study. During a time when we need fellowship and connection with other believers more than ever, this is a great opportunity to make deeper connections with church friends and family. We hope you will consider joining a group!

SEPTEMBER 30, 2020 UPDATE

Hello Church Family!

The week we received great news - that Contra Costa County has now entered a new phase for the COVID-19 reopening system. This means that as a church, we are now able to meet indoors with up to 100 people in attendance. (Source)

This Sunday, October 4, we will offer two options for in-person worship:

9:00am outdoors (with unlimited attendance)- No RSVP required

10:45am indoors (up to 100 people)- RSVP required

We will continue to stream our 10:45am service online for those who do not feel comfortable meeting in person.

If you would like to attend the outdoor 9am service, no RSVP is required. We will continue to offer outdoor kids activities during this time. Limited nursery care is also available with reservation by emailing Pastor Allyse at allyse@opccag.org.

If you would like to attend the 10:45am service, you must RSVP at this link. Limited nursery and children's ministry will also be available with an RSVP.

Please note that masks are required at both services. We also ask that you please worship from home if you are exhibiting any symptoms of COVID-19 or have been exposed to anyone with COVID-19. Because we will not be taking temperatures at the door, we ask that you please do a "self-check" at home and make sure your temperature is below 99 degrees to attend. This is part of the requirements set forth by the Contra Costa County Health Department. We will have hand sanitizing stations available and surfaces will be sanitized before and after each service.

This Sunday through Wednesday (October 4-7) we will also be collecting non-perishable food for the Contra Costa Food Bank. You may bring your items to the church on Sunday morning or to the office Monday through Wednesday from 10am-2pm. Please see this link for food items needed.

Let us continue to pray that our county will move forward, cases continue to go down, and we can continue to meet indoors. Pastor Pancho will be bringing us a great word on Sunday, continuing in our series "Divine Interruptions." We hope to see you there!

JULY 29, 2020 UPDATE

Hello Church family!

We are really pleased with how well the 9:00 am outdoor service is going and we will continue to hold this service outdoors behind the gym for the foreseeable future.  We recommend people wear hats and sunglasses.  There is a children's ministry that will take place after the worship portion of the service, children K-5th grade are welcome to join Pastor Allyse outside.  No RSVP is needed.

All State social distancing and face covering protocols apply.  We will update you when the State allows us to meet indoors again, but until then, let's just plan on this being our venue for live services for now.  We will continue to live stream our 10:45 am service.  God is meeting us while we meet outside and online!

As many of you may have already heard our dear sister Glennette Florence was called home to be with the Lord recently and we are going to be broadcasting a memorial service for her on our website  on August 8th @ 10:00 am.  We invite all who knew and loved Glennette to join us online as we commemorate our dear sister's life, lived well in service to our Lord.

Glennette Florence Online Memorial Service - August 8th @ 10AM

Her family has created a website in her memory that we encourage people to please visit: Glennette is Love. Please keep her children Christopher and Alexis in prayer to be comforted during this time.

I want to encourage the entire Church body to keep our eyes on Jesus the author and perfecter of our faith and to not let your hearts be troubled.  He who is in us is greater than he who is in the world!  Keep your faith in God strong and let the joy of the Lord be your strength.  God will shepherd us through this valley and while he does, we have the good shepherd and one another!  Praise God!

In Christ's service
Pastor Sean Fitzhugh
